Grinds Bounce Camber Relief Sole Width Availability TNC 10° Moderate Center Trailing Edge Medium All Models
The TNC grind features a moderate effective bounce angle (10*). The TNC has a medium width sole that features relief in the center of the trailing edge. The TNC has moderate camber and is designed for the player with a moderate angle of attack. It will play like an iron at a square address position and like a full-soled wedge when it is opened up. The fuller sole makes it a very stable wedge from the fairway while the relief offers players the option to open it up out of tight lies and bunkers. The TNC grind is available as a Driver/Slider grind in 53* and 56* lofts in either our 1018 or 8620 wedge lines, or is fully customizable though the Scratch Custom Shop. The TNC is an effective grind in all lofts.
1018 Forged
Each 1018 wedge is ground by hand from a raw forging to exact specs and one of our six standard sole grinds. Each grind is specifically designed to fit one of the 3 swing types. Playing the correct grind for your swing promotes better more consistent contact as the club works with your swing instead of against it.
HEADS
Scratch 1018 wedges are forged from 1018 carbon steel, the softest steel used by anyone making golf clubs today. The raw heads are then ground and finished completely by hand. The end result is the finest hand made forged wedge in golf, customized for your game. The headshape of the 1018 wedges was inspired by Scratch’s work with Tour Pros from around the globe. We listened to what they wanted in a wedge and the 1018 wedge shape reflects their feedback.
GROOVES
1018 wedges feature Scratch’s proprietary ABC groove technology. ABC stands for “all bite no chew” and these grooves deliver just that. Our machined grooves are maximum width and depth for maximum spin but the edges are slightly rounded to reduce chewing your golf ball. The best of all worlds.
HEADSHAPE
The headshape of the 1018 wedges was inspired by Scratch’s work with Tour Pros from around the globe. We listened to what they wanted in a wedge and the 1018 wedge shape reflects their feedback.
FINISH
The 1018 wedges feature Scratch’s unique Smoked Satin finish. This finish provides the durability of chrome with a duller and darker color to eliminate glare. The minimal stampings provide a very clean look unique to the Scratch Golf brand and allow for personal stampings to be added to customize the wedge for the customer who will be playing it.
SHAFTS
Scratch 1018 wedges feature a wedge flex KBS Tour shaft that is unique to Scratch Golf. We worked with legendary shaft designed Kim Braley for more than a year to create the ultimate wedge shaft. This shaft has a tighter dispersion and increased playability on less than full shots.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS
All Scratch 1018 wedges ordered online offer the following custom options at no additional charge: custom ferrule, up to three letters stamped on the club, choice of paint fill on the lettering. True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts are also available at no additional charge. Scratch also offers a variety of custom shafts and custom grips for an additional charge. SST shaft puring is also available for an additional charge.

TOTAL SWING STYLE
0-3 SWEEPER/SLIDER
4-7 DRIVER/SLIDER
8-11 DIGGER/DRIVER
Swing Types: Sweeper/Slider
- Sweeps ball off turf
- Shallow angle of attack
- Little to no divots
- Mis-hits commonly thin
Theory:
A shallow angle of attack demands a rounder sole and less bounce, so the club can slide across the ground and under the ball.
A sweeper swing sweeps the ball off the turf while keeping the club along the ground.
The thinner sole and higher camber keeps the club from bouncing, allowing the blade to scoop the ball forward and up.
| Grinds | Bounce | Camber | Relief | Sole Width | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PDG | 6° | Aggressive | Moderate Trailing Edge | Medium | All Models |
The PDG grind features a lower effective bounce angle (6*). The PDG has a medium width sole grind with moderate trailing edge relief. This grind features a larger amount of camber along with low bounce to assist players with shallower angles of attack in making solid contact and not catch shots either fat or thin. The PDG is available as a Sweeper/Slider grind in lofts of 53* and 56* in either our 1018 or 8620 wedge lines, or is fully customizable through the Scratch Custom Shop. The PDG is an effective grind in all lofts.
Driver/Slider
- Moderate angle of attack
- Swing aggressive through shot
- Small to medium divots
- Mis-hits are both fat and thin
Theory:
This sweep type has a moderately steep angle of attack, so the club drives into the ball almost as it meets the ground, creating a shallow divot, before sliding through the shot.
With traits from digger and sweeper, the swing type requires control for fat and thin shots. A medium sole width and medium effective bounce provides control and added versatility.

Digger/Driver
- Steep angle of attack
- Drives through shot
- Medium to large divots
- Mis-hits commonly fat
Theory:
With a steeper angle of attack, the club cuts into the ground after it makes contact, then rises out of the ground due to the higher bounce angle and wider sole.
The digger drives down and through the shot. To better accomplish this, the sole design needs a wider sole and a high effective bounce.
- All clubs come with True Temper Dynamic Gold Shafts (Select Flex) and Lamkin/Golf Pride grips.
